2024 SUZUKI GSX-8R Detailed Review and Features | GSX-8R Specs
The production of Suzuki GSX-8R has been confirmed, setting the stage for a competition with Yamaha R7. While sharing similarities with GSX-8S, GSX-8R boasts a more athletic design with a full fairing, potentially positioning it as a formidable rival against Yamaha R7 and Aprilia RS660. The Japanese manufacturer has verified that the pricing for the all-new GSX-8R sportbike will commence at $9439 internationally. This places it in the mid-range sportbike competition, with the potential to disrupt the segment given its unique genetic makeup.
The GSX-8R shares common features with the GSX-8S but introduces a fresh appearance and a new engine. The motorcycle features a tubular steel frame, a separate aluminum sub-frame, and a 776cc parallel-twin cylinder engine with a 270-degree crankshaft. Suzuki's Cross Balancer ensures smooth operation.
Despite similarities with the GSX-8S, the GSX-8R has distinctive features, including a full fairing with Ram Air intakes and triple-clamped bolt-on forged aluminum handlebars for a more aggressive riding position. Suzuki claims the riding position provides a "sporty riding experience while maintaining comfort." With enhanced ergonomics, a new body, and wind protection, touring with the GSX-8R is expected to be enjoyable.
In terms of competitors, the Yamaha R7 remains a prominent rival. However, Suzuki's decision to prioritize accessibility over a more sport-oriented design is evident. The GSX-8R's seat is designed for sporty riding, offering freedom of movement and a height of 810mm. The motorcycle features a focused suspension setup with Showa suspension, providing a balance between sporty dynamics and comfort. The GSX-8R is priced slightly higher than the Yamaha R7 and the updated Honda CBR650R but is more affordable than the Aprilia RS660 in the European market. The motorcycle is anticipated to be available at dealerships in February 2024.
